Drop off day….

We got to the Vet’s office around 8am. While signing some of the paper work, they started to take Lorna away. (Not cool)

With a heavy hearts we watched Lorna limp her way back behind the “STAFF ONLY” doors. At least we knew the pain she was in was about to go away.

It was a long day of work before we got the phone call post-surgery.

The surgeon said she did well and is resting with IV meds. I know she is a strong dog and will adjust well to three legs!

We can’t pick her up until Saturday…..2 more days

  1. The waiting to pick up is a special kind of torture, isn’t it. But your girl is in good hands, and she is being well cared for. Use this time to prep for bringing her home — if you have slippery floors, get some rubber-backed area rugs, raised bowls for feeding is a little easier on the big pups, etc. — or maybe take care of some of the last minute wedding insanity. Anything to take your mind off of the fact that there’s nothing to do but wait.

Your heart will break daily for her — when she cries because of the meds or pain, if she slips and falls, if she’s not eating, peeing, pooping…. But you will get through this, and you will find the light at the end of the tunnel!

Try not to look back, try not to feel guilty or second guess your decision. A positive attitude is the best way for you to help your Lorna get through this.

Good luck, and we’re here for you!

  2. Thanks for sharing Lorna Doone’s story. We look forward to following her progress, and seeing some more photos – she is beautiful!

PS: Congratulations on the pending nuptials. 🙂

  3. Lorna will do so well, just hang in there! I am going to look for her photos… I have an english mastiff mix and love the big kids.
