Staples out….good mood in!

Alright it’s been some time since our last post. Lorna is doing much much better. She is off all drugs/pain killers so her personality is back in FULL swing. The picture attached with this post is her chasing the water from the hose while I “try” and water the plants.

Her staples came out this past Saturday, and the surgeon said everything looks good. Her walk is much better. I feel since she is a bigger dog, it’s taking her a bit longer to figure out how to walk faster, more stable, etc. Her hair is growing back as well!

Any tricks to getting her up and down the stairs? Any stories from you all in regards to our next hurdle?

The car is officially sold and her surgery is now paid off. I’m in the process of car shopping as well :-). Anyone have a 2011 Subaru Legacy?

Wedding in 26 days……oh boy

Where the ..... is that water!?!?

  1. Hi! Ted here. I must say, you are standing quite tall and proud. I became a tripawd Jan. 26 of this year. All I can tell you about the stairs is this, going up is easy, just get started and the rest will come. Going down on the other hand is a tad harder. My first trip down, Mom was right beside me with her hand on my chest. She could have put my harness on me, but she did not. Her touch and her voice told me to go slow. If I get going too fast, I just put my butt down and that slows me down.

I heard Mom say, “Our next trip in the Rv, your ramp is going with us.” You see, the steps are much steeper in the RV and the pounding is not what Mom wants for me. She also said that my harness is going too as last trip out I took a digger coming out of the RV. With the harness, Mom can grab the handle to help me (not that I need any help). Mom is just very protective of me, and I love it.

So, just remember, going up is easy, going down, just take your time.

  2. You are looking good, Lorna! For me, going up steps was easier than coming down. The first time going down, I made my dad carry all 83 pounds of me down the 14 steps. The second time I went with my mom guiding me. Her touch & voice told me when I needed to slow down (just put your butt down to do that). Sometimes if I’m feeling really frisky, I go fast, but then I miss a step and it freaks my mom and dad out. Just take it slow so you don’t hurt yourself. And tell your owners to stop teasing you with the water and let you play with the hose already!
