The Good/The Bad

Lorna is doing better. She hasn’t yelped in a day (which to me is great). She really isn’t herself though. I know she is on meds and stuff but she looks sad. She doesn’t want to get up a lot, even when my fiance comes in the door which is different for us.

Her swelling is down and bruising is going down as well which is good.

Her staples come out the 18th which we can’t wait for, however we can’t afford Chemo. I have read average life post amputation with no Chemo is 3-4 months?

Anyone reading this (and/or you know someone) have their pups last longer then 3-4 months? I am worried. I know I shouldn’t worry about that now but I can’t stop thinking about it.

Here’s the pic for the day…..enjoy it

So sad

  1. At first, Max didn’t seem himself either after the surgery. It’s the medicines. Try to remember Lorna is on a lot of meds, they will make her quite loopy. As for the chemo, I can’t really comment on that because we did 6 rounds of carboplatin. I’ve never looked it up on the forums, but I know there are some threads about financial assistance. I don’t know if it’s in regards to surgery or chemo, but it might be worth looking up. Good luck to you and Lorna. Keep us updated.

  2. Hi,
Try to be strong for your pup…her sadness that you think is happening might just be the drugs at play.

My dog hasn’t had chemo(she has soft tissue sarcoma) but I use Dr. Charles Loops in NC, a well known homeopath for his cancer treatment. Maggie is on daily homeopathics for her case. You can do phone consults with him and the treatments are very inexpensive. Maybe this might be something you’d want to look into? Here is his website for information:

Stay strong…as hard as it is I KNOW…

  3. we agree with maximutt…it’s the dope that has lorna down. as for not doing chemo, read up on fortis – he has a blog here and he didn’t do chemo either. don’t start believing all the ‘nostradomus numbers’ they throw at you, there’s no date stamp on lorna’s butt!!!

  4. Now is no time to be worried about the future, just ask Lorna. But since you asked, Jerry loved life on three legs for nearly two years – 23 months to be specific – without IV chemo, after only being given a few months to live. Doctors always give the worst case scenario.

Try to focus on quality of life not quantity, and your journey with Lorna Doone will be much more enjoyable!
